Word Play

Why are all bad words fun to say?

What was Merriam-Webster thinking when he made "poop" a bad word? Poop is a blast to say. Poop. Say it. Right now. I don't care if you are at work or in an elevator or sitting on your grandma's lap. Poop.

"Booger" is another one. And its brother "goober". What about "testes". Who doesn't wish it was more socially acceptable to walk about talking about "testes" all day?

But it isn't just bad words - there are other words that I randomly try to work in conversations. "Guacamole" for example. It is like a playground for my mouth. "Haberdash" is another. I don't even know what that means, but I make sure to say it once a day for good measure.

But is there anything more fun to say than "conquistador"? Try saying it. I bet you had an accent when you said it, didn't you? And you delivered it in some dramatic fashion, like you were the Dos Equis guy.

"I don't always speak in a Spanish accent, but when I do, I prefer to say 'Conquistador'".

So what are your favorite words to say?

Oooo this is a fun post. I have this conversation with my boyfriend all the time. I love poop! Actually, right before I opened your post, I had just text my boyfriend and I used the word poop.

I like to call people "a boob". You're such a boob. I also like to just randomly spit out a bad word when there is silence in the car. Such fun :)

Babaganoush is also fun to say.

Zanzibar! (In my head it always sounds like it has an exclamation mark on the end).

Words I don't like however include womb and moist. *shudders*

I've always been fond of "nugatory" and use it whenever I can, which is all too often. It's fun to say and nobody knows what it means, so they have to go look it up before they realize I've probably insulted them or something they love.

I had a friend who worked at Ft. Huachuca once, and for some reason I love saying Huachuca.......Waaaaaaaaah-CHU-caaah...

I also have made-up words, like angrivated and annoyatated, which are great descriptors. Also a friend coined the term "lewdity", combining lewd and nudity, which I think is an awesome blended word. What was he arrested for? Oh, public lewdity. =)

Viscid . . . . .look it up. . . . .you'll try to work that one into some conversations.

And how about the word verification that came up for me to post this comment . . . .FORSHOLA. It sounds like the spanish way of the term Fo Sho that was popular a few years ago.

When I was in Mexico I met a conquistador that haberdashed in small trade items. We ate guacamole together but then the water there made me poop. On the trip back the dry air made my boogers hurt.

I could totally see using these words everyday. I like serendipity it's like a party in my mouth (TWSS).

ChimiCHANga!

And, similarly but differently, ChataRUNGa!

Of course, the classic, Turkey Burger.

And, yes, I lifted one shoulder with a little haughtiness when I delivered Conquistador in a Spanish accent.

PS Poop.

There are many awesome words I like to say. Some I use less than others, but on a daily basis, I like to refer to things as "ridiculous". I enjoy the word "farfignoogan" a great deal as well as exclaiming "Balls!" or "Bitches!" when I am surprised.

It was just today that my friend Adam and I were talking about how funny it is to tell someone,"Stop being a pussy or I'll punch you in your vagina." Much more funny when said to a person of the male persuasion.

I salute your wonderful post on favorite words. I am thinking Narm's word of the day is in the works?

If you like to speak like a conquistador then you need to read Skippyjon Jones by J Schachner. I love to read this to my children. It is about a siamese cat that thinks he's a chihuahua and has chihuahua friends (I always pronouce it as cheehooahooa in my head, don't you?). His siblings are Jezebel, Jillyboo and Jujubee. There are plenty of words like frijoles, banditoes and chimichangas. It is muey, muey fun.
(I, also, agree with LiLu, "FranCISco, FranCISco...)

Happenstance. It makes me so happy I'm pretty sure it's not real and I just made it up. Which is entirely like me anyway.
